The moral of the series, if one chooses to accept the final season, is: if there's someone after you, make sure you kill them. Never walk away. Never try to do the right thing. Just fucking kill them.
It was stupid to turn Dexter to Revenge, with all these meaningless twists and "overwhelming" emotions. I'm sure there was a way to let Debra go with more dignity, she's not fucking Declan Porter!
Oh, well.

DEXTER S08E02 RECAP
In the second episode of Dexter called Every Silver Lining Dexter learns something about his past, Vogel gets some shape, Debra's breaking bad and Batista is trying to turn Quinn into marriage material.
Dr. Vogel shows Dexter her recordings of Harry describing his step-son's violent traits (by the way, it seems unlikely that Harry gave her permission to videotape those conversations). Long story short, it turns out that Vogel was the one who gave Harry this idea of channeling Dex's urges and helped him create the Code. She now needs Dexter's help, as she believes the murder from last week was committed by one of her patients, since she's received that victim's missing part of the brain.
The new body appears almost instantly, Dexter manages to identify the suspect by a fingerprint on the murder weapon, and although Vogel seems skeptical about the candidate, Dex chooses to ignore her.
Debra, in a meanwhile, is on a treasure hunt. She figured out where Briggs kept the jewelry, and went there, followed by El Sapo, who then beat her up and took the bling-bling. But he did not go far - the next morning Miami Metro was already working on identifying his body. Dexter rushes to Deb, worrying about her, but she seems fine and still not in the mood to see him.
After being kicked out by his damaged sibling, Dex comes to the cabin of his suspect only to find him murdered. He still finds it hard to admit that he was so wrong, which is pinpointed by Vogel.
Debra comes to Miami Metro to answer questions about El Sapo (Quinn remembered her asking him to look that guy up once); by that time Dex has figured out she was the one who shot the bastard (go Deb!). He interrupted her "interrogation" and confronted her with this, only to realize that she's not what she used to be.
Vogel calls Dexter and says that someone's broke into her house. They find a CD with the latest "brain surgeon" murder recorded, from which it is clear that the guy Dexter suspected was just another victim of a psychopath on the loose.
So now I'm quite confident that Vogel is the murderer of the season, because:
a) She clearly knows too much about those killings
b) Like late Travis Marshall, she's the one who shows Dexter all that goodies "the bad guy" sends her: why should we believe that those parts of brain and a murder recording were delivered by someone else? She might have scooped parts of brain herself and pretend there was someone at her house easily
c) There was a perfect motivation for her to have planted that CD with videotaped murder: to prove she was right! You remember how she said that this was important for psychopaths? And undoubtedly, she's one.
But here comes the question - what's her motivation for the actual killings? She, of course, could be eliminating her former patients to avoid career issues, but hardly it was the main reason. So what else?
Well, do you remember this famous brain teaser:
A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a man whom she did not know. She believed him to be her dream partner so much, that she fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and could not find him. A few days later she killed her sister.
Question: What was her motive for killing her sister?
I assume she used these murders to get close to Dexter, although, I'm not sure, what for.
Also, Dexter keeps showing how non-psychopathic he is: all this wanting to share his feelings, caring for his sister surprise Vogel. May it be that he was just a damaged kid, who could have never turned into a killer, providing there was a good psychiatrist instead of Vogel?

HOW MUCH WOULD DEXTER SCORE ON PSYCHOPATH TEST?
After the latest Dexter episode I couldn't stop thinking if the main character can actually qualify for a real psychopath, so I found a Hare's elaborated checklist here and unsurprisingly, Dexter scored almost as many points as I did. And unfortunately, neither of us is a psychopath.
Instructions: for each of the 20 characteristics, give a score of 0 if it does not apply, 1 if it applies partially and 2 if it is a perfect match.
He has to get at least 30 points to be diagnosed of psychopathy.
Let's roll!
1. Glib and Superficial Charm. Psychopathic charm is not in the least shy, self-conscious, or afraid to say anything. A psychopath never gets tongue-tied. They have freed themselves from the social conventions about taking turns in talking, for example.
Well, that's easy. Dexter is everything, but smooth in his social interactions, and often says or does some awkward things. He's far from being charming, so 0 points.
2. Grandiose Self-Worth. A grossly inflated view of one's abilities and self-worth, self-assured, opinionated, cocky, a braggart. Psychopaths are arrogant people who believe they are superior human beings.
Remember what Vogel said about the murderer on the latest Miami Metro case? He would enjoy if he knew they were talking about him; but Dexter wouldn't, besides, he never seems cocky. He feels different from people that surround him, but not in a good way. This only changes when he's around his victims, then he definitely thinks he is superior to them, but that could be his step-father's influence. Since he was brought up in the house where murderers were always treated with contempt, the attitude would grow on him regardless of his personal traits. I call 0.
3. Need for Stimulation or Proneness to Boredom. An excessive need for novel, thrilling, and exciting stimulation; taking chances and doing things that are risky. Psychopaths often have a low self-discipline in carrying tasks through to completion because they get bored easily. They fail to work at the same job for any length of time, for example, or to finish tasks that they consider dull or routine.
This one is tricky, because even though Dexter does work in Miami Metro since like forever and almost never travels or looks for any particular excitement, he does tend to run off from work and his second live gives just enough thrill. I give him 1.
4. Pathological Lying. Can be moderate or high; in moderate form, they will be shrewd, crafty, cunning, sly, and clever; in extreme form, they will be deceptive, deceitful, underhanded, unscrupulous, manipulative, and dishonest.
This one is a 2. He's a liar.
5. Cunning and Manipulative. The use of deceit and deception to cheat, con, or defraud others for personal gain; distinguished from Item #4 in the degree to which exploitation and callous ruthlessness is present, as reflected in a lack of concern for the feelings and suffering of one's victims.
I'd say 1. He does manipulate or deceives others, but sometimes feels guilty about it.
6. Lack of Remorse or Guilt. A lack of feelings or concern for the losses, pain, and suffering of victims; a tendency to be unconcerned, dispassionate, coldhearted, and unemphatic This item is usually demonstrated by a disdain for one's victims.
If we're talking about his victims only, then, 2 points, otherwise he feels guilty pretty often.
7. Shallow Affect. Emotional poverty or a limited range or depth of feelings; interpersonal coldness in spite of signs of open gregariousness.
2 points
8. Callousness and Lack of Empathy. A lack of feelings toward people in general; cold, contemptuous, inconsiderate, and tactless
2 points
9. Parasitic Lifestyle. An intentional, manipulative, selfish, and exploitative financial dependence on others as reflected in a lack of motivation, low self-discipline, and inability to begin or complete responsibilities.
0 points, he works, he doesn't take loans or borrow money.
10. Poor Behavioral Controls. Expressions of irritability, annoyance, impatience, threats, aggression, and verbal abuse; inadequate control of anger and temper; acting hastily.
This only applies to the last episode, really, where he yelled at his son and nearly killed some stupid driver that cut him off. Normally, he stays in control of his behavior. 0.
11. Promiscuous Sexual Behavior. A variety of brief, superficial relations, numerous affairs, and an indiscriminate selection of sexual partners; the maintenance of several relationships at the same time; a history of attempts to sexually coerce others into sexual activity or taking great pride at discussing sexual exploits or conquests.
0. He claimed to be basically asexual before Rita, and besides her there was what, three more women in like seven years? That's not a lot.
12. Early Behavior Problems. A variety of behaviors prior to age 13, including lying, theft, cheating, vandalism, bullying, sexual activity, fire-setting, glue-sniffing, alcohol use, and running away from home.
I recall that he was killing animals as a child. I guess this qualifies for 2 points.
13. Lack of Realistic, Long-Term Goals. An inability or persistent failure to develop and execute long-term plans and goals; a nomadic existence, aimless, lacking direction in life.
On the one hand, he doesn't have long term plans, but at the same time it's not possible to say that his life has no direction. 1?
14. Impulsive. The occurrence of behaviors that are unpremeditated and lack reflection or planning; inability to resist temptation, frustrations, and urges; a lack of deliberation without considering the consequences; foolhardy, rash, unpredictable, erratic, and reckless.
1 point. He's not that good at controlling his urges, but most of the time he thinks his murders through, wraps the place in plastic and such...
15. Irresponsibility. Repeated failure to fulfill or honor obligations and commitments; such as not paying bills, defaulting on loans, performing sloppy work, being absent or late to work, failing to honor contractual agreements.
2 points. It always amazed me how he manages to be present at work so little and make Harrison's babysitters work extra hours.
16. Failure to Accept Responsibility for Own Actions. A failure to accept responsibility for one's actions reflected in low conscientiousness, an absence of dutifulness, antagonistic manipulation, denial of responsibility, and an effort to manipulate others through this denial.
1 point. Though he even invented "the dark passenger" to spare some guilt, when Rita was killed he said "It was me" and felt responsible for her death.
17. Many Short-Term Marital Relationships. A lack of commitment to a long-term relationship reflected in inconsistent, undependable, and unreliable commitments in life, including marital.
0 points. It was not the lack of commitment that made some of his relationships short.
18. Juvenile Delinquency. Behavior problems between the ages of 13-18; mostly behaviors that are crimes or clearly involve aspects of antagonism, exploitation, aggression, manipulation, or a callous, ruthless tough-mindedness.
We know nothing about that period of time, but he probably was well-behaved. 0.
19. Revocation of Condition Release. A revocation of probation or other conditional release due to technical violations, such as carelessness, low deliberation, or failing to appear.
Never happened. 0 points
20. Criminal Versatility. A diversity of types of criminal offenses, regardless if the person has been arrested or convicted for them; taking great pride at getting away with crimes.
Two points. On top of murders he also commits fraud (forging lab results or hiding evidence), theft and invades homes.
So the total result is 20 points, which is higher than a completely normal person would score, but falls short of 10 points to call Dexter a psychopath. Too bad for Dr. Vogel, huh?

DEXTER (S08E01) - READY FOR GOODBYE (sort of recap)
The first episode of Dexter's final season aired last Sunday and in general I share the "meh" feeling expressed by my better half: it wasn't too exciting and frankly, not particularly promising, however, since I'm a big fan of the series, I naively hope for the best.
So Dexter's moved on with his live, like nothing happened, his son has finally reached the age when he can actually comprehend something, Quinn is fucking someone new (like in every other season!) and this time Angel's little sister is his babe, Batista himself returned to Miami Metro (who opens a restaurant in this economy anyway?), LaGuerta is turned into a concrete bench, and only Debra dived into a self-created version of hell, where she does cocaine along with the full range of other illegal substances, screws a criminal she's supposed to give in (oh yeah, she's a bounty hunter of some sort now) and avoids Dexter, who doesn't get why. "Because you made me compromise everything about myself that I care about. And I hate you for it", says she while shooing him away, when he finally tracks her down, concerned about her.
But it looks like deviant step-sister should be the least of Dex's concerns now, even though she said she should have shot him instead of Maria. Evelyn Vogel, a neuropsychiatrist specializing in psychopaths, who looks more like NBC's Hannibal Lector offered her help to Miami Metro in solving a new murder case (potentially, cases) - a body was found with part of the brain responsible for empathy scooped out. She takes particular interest in Dexter, asking him all sorts of uncomfortable questions about the Bay Harbor Butcher and such.
To her disappointment, he doesn't get paranoid enough, as poor Deb occupies his thoughts. A hitman named El Sapo is after her "boyfriend" slash wanted guy Andrew Briggs, and she might get hurt. Together with Harrison Dexter gets to the Pink Motel to warn her, where he picks a fight with Briggs and consequently stabs him in front of his sister, which makes things even more awkward between the two siblings. "What'd you do? I felt OK around him!". Debra gives another speech about how open her eyes are now, sends him away and calls the police to tell them some lies about what happened. El Sapo watched her so I guess we'll see more of him in the upcoming episodes.
And finally, Dr. Vogel finds Dexter sitting on LaGuerta's bench the next day. He tries to avoid the conversation and then she gives hims the pictures he drew as a child (naturally, with loads of blood). When he presses her against the wall, she says he can't kill her "Because I don't fit Harry's code". Oh, God! She knows everything.
What can I say, there was definitely too much of Deb, and although Jennifer Carpenter doesn't have the gorgeous hair she had last season, which leaves jealousy out, it is still hard for me to like her character. She's too messed up. But I'm glad that Carpenter has finally got a chance to yell "I hate you!" at her ex-husband with no repercussions.
The main question of the episode is who the hell Evelyn Vogel really is. Was she the one who spotted Dexter's "dark passenger" when he was a kid and informed Harry about it? Was she the one who suggested to channel Dex's destructive energy?
The problem I have with Dr. Vogel is that she comes off as a more of a psychopath than Dexter (what could make her study psychopaths in the first place, huh?) To be completely frank, Dexter doesn't come as a psychopath at all, despite the fact that he numerously suggests so himself and that's the problem of this series. I understand that it was revolutionary at the time - following the life of a maniac - but the maniac was lost along the way, what was left is a version of hero from the action movies in the nineties, portrayed by Stallone, Swartzeneger or Willis (I wonder if Dexter killed less guys within seven seasons than characters of those guys in a single movie).

DEXTER EPISODES 10 THROUGH 12
I kind of gave up on Dexter, didn't I? The truth is that with Isaak Sirko gone, the series became a little dull. Anyway, it's time to cover the rest of the season.
Quinn killed George and made it to look like a self defense, but the the girl he did it all for, Nadia, left him.
Maria and Tom investigate the Bay Harbour Butcher case and find out that the cabin Doakes died in was rented by one of Dexter's mother's murderers. That, added to the fact that Doakes never had the boat, unlike Dex, makes LaGuerta and Matthews suspicious. So Tom "interrogates" Dexter, although, the conversation feels more like a friendly warning, and so Dexter lies that he saw that Doakes had a boat. Then the Morgans rent the boat storage and plant the evidence all over the place, which convinces Tom, but not Maria. She has a better plan.
Hannah and Dexter grow closer day by day. She teaches him that there's no dark passenger that controls him; he kills her awful father and imagines how they grow old together. But Debra is determined to put Hanna's sweet ass behind the bars and she got a tip: a name of the girl who saw how Hannah poisoned that chancellor Price was talking about.
So there was nothing for Hannah to do than to dissolve a bunch of pills in Debra's bottled water, which made Deb pass out while driving, so she got to a car accident. She didn't die, but to protect her, Dexter gave her the pen Sal Price chewed on before his death with traces of aconite. Hannah got arrested, and she asked her friend to get her something that made her temporarily collapse. When she regained her consciousness, she fled from the hospital she was rushed into.
Maria arranged the last of Dexter's mom's murderers, Hector Estrada, to be released from prison on parole. Dexter, like an idiot, hurries to kill the guy, but as he has the last talk with his victim in accordance with his routines, he learns that Maria set him up. So he runs, because the cops already tracked Estrada's whereabouts with the help of the GPS, and Estrada himself manages to run away from Dexter.
Maria arrests Dexter for Estrada's murder and interrogates him, but he's very calm. That's all because the evidence she got was planted by Dexter: it was a shirt with Estrada's blood and his wallet, which Dexter took from the evidence room to make LaGuerta look like she tried to frame him. Dex is released.
LaGuerta asks Debra if she was with Dexter at the church on the night of Travis's murder, she said she wasn't, and then Maria shows her the video from the gasoline station. Debra doesn't say anything, but she is scared. Dexter breaks into Maria's apartment and finds warrants for GPS tracking of his and Deb's cell phones. He decides to kill that sneaky bitch to protect his life.
Dexter catches Estrada again, makes him call LaGuerta and kills him afterwards. He wanted to make it look like Maria and Estrada killed each other, but before he finished, Debra comes and ruins everything. Maria asks her to take Dexter down, but Debra shoots her captain instead. And then they go to a party.
So, Debra is a killer now, like Hannah. I wish they could make her conversion look a bit smoother, by making her do a lot more bad stuff along the way. Like that car crash: she could have put those pills into her water herself, to set Hannah up. It feels like there's a huge gap between what Debra was in the beginning of the season and what she is now. Planting evidence and lying to coworkers doesn't lead to killing somebody. It is also quite annoying that the writers never let Dexter murder any innocent people, they always make his women do it.
The story with Hannah is unlikely to be over, I'm sure she and Dexter will try to kill each other next year.
All in all it wasn't the best season, but it was fun to watch. And may I say that Jennifer Carpenter has GORGEOUS hair.

Hannah got arrested, and she asked her friend to get her something that made her temporarily collapse. When she regained her consciousness, she fled from the hospital she was rushed into.

DEXTER S07E09: COUNTING BODIES LIKE SHEEP
Wow, that was a quite a roller coaster! Very exciting episode, although, now I can't really imagine, what happens next.
Dexter takes Hanna to a small boat trip, but she looks stiff and pale and hardly enjoys it: she's afraid of water since her father nearly drowned her, when teaching her to swim. When she asks Dexter if he ever was scared like that, he pulls the usual self mumbling "I don't know", but very conveniently he is called for work: to take a look at a burned man's body. "It was a suicide", concludes one weird arson investigator. But it takes just one more burned person to make Dex suspect that the arson guy is responsible for this.
Isaak has a problem: Koshkas sent two guys to kill him, sadly they are nothing like those amateurs from Colombian drug cartel he could finish with one hand, they are professional hitmen, so to survive he needs help. And who could help him if not Dexter Morgan? When Sirko outlines the situation and offers to stop his vendetta, if Dex would give him a hand, he gets in response: "I'll take my chances". So arrogant. But secretly Dexter doesn't want Isaak be killed by somebody else, either because he wants to end him himself, or he just feels they have a lot in common.
So Isaak has no choice but to take Hannah hostage. He threatens Dexter that if he doesn't get help, his associate, Jurg, will kill her. Dexter runs to his sister and asks her to pull off the surveillance. She's obviously unhappy when she learns who he's doing it for, but eventually agrees.
Dexter stabs one of the killers, Oleg, easily, at the firing range, in the broad light with people around. To get to the second hitman, Benjamin, Dex wants to let the guy follow him to a safe place and finish him there. Also, while having a video call with Hannah, Dexter takes a screenshot of her, which helps him realize that Jurg's keeping Hannah in the house of one of the Colombians Isaak recently killed. He asks Debra to find out which house this is.
Benjamin follows Dex to a cargo ship, as expected, and is successfully killed there by Isaak. However, before that, the guy mentioned the place where he was going to to George, who was afraid Sirko would brutally murder him if he stayed alive, so George appeared there as well and shot Isaak. Dexter wanted to call an ambulance, but dying Sirko asked him to bury him at sea instead, to be reunited with Viktor.
Hannah tries to escape and is attacked Jurg. She kills him with a lamp, but he wounds her, so she passes out. Debra finds them and calls an ambulance. In the hospital Hannah asked her why she just did not let her die, and Deb replied that she's not like them and she doesn't want to feel responsible for anyone's death.
When Dexter enters the ward, she leaves, after confirming that Sirko's been taken care of. Dexter then answers that question Hannah earlier asked about him ever being really scared. He said he was twice: first, when his mother was chopped in pieces in front of him, and now, when he thought he might never see Hannah again.
Maria comes to Tom Matthews and tells him about her investigation on Bay Harbor Butcher case. At first he sends her to hell, but then he agrees to help her if she helps him ensure his pension first. I think he wants to double-cross her.
And Quinn beats up George for sleeping with Nadia (George did that to pay back to Quinn for not returning his calls) and leaves the club with her.
So, finally, Dexter has accepted his feelings for Hannah, though, looking back at his history with women, I have a feeling she won't survive (in the best case scenario, won't stay out of jail) and by the end of the season it'll be over.
Maria's investigation is finally moving somewhere, which is certainly promising, but I still can't figure out, how is it that she suddenly became good at this job? Where were her wonderful insights before?
I was also sad to see Isaak go, I liked this character a lot. Oh well.

DEXTER S07E08: EVERYBODY NEEDS HIS ARGENTINA
"Argentina" is created in the best traditions of any TV soap opera produced in South America, so I wonder if the episode title actually hinted on this fact. It also had a little touch of Dostoyevsky, rolling around the idea that everyone needs a place to go to, a place to feel like home.
Overall, it felt a bit like a filler, with nothing really interesting happening. In a nutshell, Dexter gets to the top of the love triangle, with Hannah and Debra on the other sides. We also learn the true origins of Isaak's excessive desire to avenge Viktor's death.
It starts with Dex and Hannah having breakfast after the night they spent together, just like any normal couple. The calendar on Hannah's wall with a picture of Argentina leads to a conversation where she explains why this country has a special meaning for her - it feels like home.
After that Dex leaves his safe place and tries to convince his sister that killing Hannah won't do any good to her, he says she wouldn't be able to be at peace with herself, should he proceed. Debra doesn't seem to agree, but he puts his foot down.
So to make her feel better, Dex goes to the doughnut shop and is assassinated there by Sirko, who managed to get rid of his police tail. Dexter obviously survives and after telling his sister about the incident, he gets the carte blanche from her to deal with the crazy avenger. However, turns out that Dexter has a competitor: George gets an approval from his Ukrainian bosses to get rid of Sirko, since his little vendetta puts Koshka's drug business in jeopardy. Around the same time Dexter gets a message from his mother-in-law that Rita's father is having an operation, so Astor, Cody and Harrison have to go to Miami, but since it's too dangerous to be in Dexter's apartment with Isaak on the loose, Debra agrees to let the kids stay in her place instead. Dex also tells Hannah about Isaak, and she gives him an advice: he must gather more information about the guy. She gives him her van so he could follow Sirko in a vehicle no one knows is his.
Dexter breaks into Sirko's apartment, where he finds another "hitman", waiting for the owner. Instead of just letting the guy do his job, Dex slits his throat and leaves the body. When Isaak finds the corpse in his place, he figures out that George and the bosses decided to take him out. As his right hand asks who could kill the assassin, Isaak says: well, that's a job for the police, isn't it?".
And so the police, including Dexter, comes to investigate this murder. Dexter briefly describes what happened and leaves to spend some time with the kids on the beach. Hanna comes there as well, to get one of the keys she gave Dex together with her car keys and learn that he has a son and two step-children. She says she'd want to meet them someday.
A little later Dexter comes to check on how Debra is doing with the kids and she recognizes the key holder. She asks if he's sleeping with Hannah, he confesses he has feelings for her. Debra freaks out and in her hysteria lets out that she was (maybe still is) in love with him.
After being kicked out from Deb's apartment, Dexter follows Isaak to a gay bar, where he learns that Baskov was Isaak's great love.
That's pretty much it, from other events, Quinn had to work for George again, Batista opened his restaurant, Astor smokes pot and Maria learns that Dexter moved his boat when the police learnt about Bay Harbor Butcher existence.

DEXTER S07E07: DEBRA'S UP FOR VENDETTA
"Chemistry", huh? This time Dexter compares his new affection to other women he's been with throughout the series: Rita, Lila and Lumen, and comes to a conclusion that Hannah might be the one he could actually fall in love with. Isaak Sirko again appeared in just a few short scenes, which is a bummer. And last but not least, Debra got bloodthirsty.
Debra's date with Sal Price went well, they had connection and even kissed. The whole evening they talked about Hannah, though, and Debra was determined to nail her and put her behind bars. Sal says he suspects Hannah poisoned her husband and so his body can be exhumed and checked for traces of aconite.
Dexter drives Hannah back home after their crazy murder-date. They agree to stop seeing each other, because it'd wouldn't end good. When Hannah leaves, Sal, who happened to watch her house at the time, approaches Dexter and accuses him of sabotaging the blood report on purpose. He threatens to write about this in his book, so Dexter offers him to go on record with Wayne Randall's last words instead. In the end they agree to meet at Dexter's house to talk about it.
Miami Metro staff discover that Isaak's blood from the evidence room is missing. Dexter and others go to the crime seen to get the leftovers of blood there, but the sewage was ruined, presumably by Koshka's, so nothing could be retrieved. Dex tells Debra that he'll manage Isaak his way, she yells at him and says he must stay away from the guy and that she'll arrange police following Sirko wherever he goes until his visa expires.
Batista gets the list of visitors of the evidence room, and asks Quinn what he was doing there. Quinn lies very persuasively, so Batista gets off his back. Later Quinn gives Batista a check for ten grand for that restaurant he wanted to open.
Sal comes to Hannah and insists on an interview, when he brings Dexter up, she agrees. Dexter comes to warn her about his talk with Price and she tells him about her conversation with that nosy writer. Dex says he'll handle the guy.
Debra gets permission from Hannah's sister-in-law to exhume the body of the deceased husband, but there were no tissue on the corpse.
Isaak shares a chip with Dexter and tells him that he now has cold head and he won't be so easy to trap any more. To destabilize him Dexter tells in detail how he killed Viktor, but Isaak just leaves saying "You'll regret sharing this with me".
Dexter can't just kill Price for nothing, and it would be too suspicious if he did. So he tries to find some dirt on the guy and comes across with one murder Sal wrote about, which was never solved. Dex suspects Price was the murderer. He then breaks into Sal's apartment, steals his toothbrush and some used dental floss, and erases the book and materials about Hannah from Sal's computer.
Sal interviews Hannah and she tells him a compelling story about how Wayne practically made her kill that woman that the police recently dug up.
Quinn is reunited with Nadia, but George is not willing to let her go and give her passport. Well, it was really naive to believe him in the first place, wasn't it.
Price comes to Dexter and instead of hearing the story about Wayne, he hears something different. Dexter says he has proof that Price himself is a killer. They argue and the Price dies from a heart attack.
Maria finally discovers that Dexter Morgan has a boat (that's in relation to the Bay Harbor Butcher case).
Hannah is interrogated by Debra, but it turns out she's very good at lying. Dexter pays her a visit afterwards, and they come to a conclusion that they were looking out for each other. They naturally have sex after this discovery. As Dexter reflects lying next to sleeping Hannah in her bed, his cell phone rings. Debra tells him they couldn't find any trace of poison in Sal's body, so she basically asks him to kill the girl.
Score: 8/10

DEXTER S07E06: SEX BEATS KILLING URGES
This episode seemed a little less exciting to me, mainly because Ray Stevenson had just a couple of scenes this time.
Recap:
Dexter thinks Hannah didn't stop killing people, which makes her a perfect candidate for his victim, so he watches her, discussing with his dead power, how to proceed. According to the code, Dexter has to gather some solid evidence that would prove she poisoned her husband and her mentor. He wants to talk to her about this, but first he needs to regain her trust. He changes his blood report conclusion about the corpses that Hannah helped find, so that she wouldn't be a suspect, and shows a copy of that to her.
Quinn tells Nadia that her employers gave him a lot of money. She wisely tells him to return it, because he might end up being killed. Quinn agrees and throws money at George, saying "I'm not for sale", a statement, which is cocky as much as is untrue.
In a meanwhile, Isaak meets a representative of the hostile Colombian drug cartel in prison. Isaak breaks that guy's hand and mentions that negotiation is the key to success. He then talks to George and tells him to arrange the release as soon as possible, because the longer he stays in prison, the higher is the chance that he ends up killing somebody, in which case it will be very difficult for him to get out.
So George comes to meet Quinn instead of Nadia and demands that he does something to ensure Isaak is set free. If he doesn't Nadia will be transferred to a sex club in Dubai with unbearable working conditions. Quinn calls Nadia for a couple of days (as if she would pick up the phone in circumstances like that) and then eventually steals the evidence.
Sal Price, who's written a book about Wayne and Hannah, appears at Miami Metro to get the information about the newly found bodies. Dexter chases him and learns that Sal is writing a sequel solely about Hannah. So Dexter breaks into his apartment and steals the copy of the draft along with some other materials. He gets to know that Hanna's mentor was indeed poisoned with aconite, extracted from a plant.
Dexter comes to Hannah's place and finds the plant. She confronts him and asks why he keeps showing up, so he has to take her out... on a date.
Maria couldn't get anything from missing people's relatives, so she comes up with another idea: what if those suspects the police are looking for are not hiding, but are killed by Bay Harbor Butcher? For example that group of criminals, suspected in murders of girls, whose bodies were found in barrels (as we know, she's right about it, those men were killed by Dex and Lumen in season five). Debra tells Maria that it's unlikely, those criminals were really high profile, but she, of course, knows that Maria is right.
So Debra talks to Dexter and asks him about this case. She figures that the accomplice he had at the time was Lumen, and as usually, completely freaks out. Dexter tells her to relax and go on a date and she then kicks him out. However, she later takes his advise and goes on a date with Sal, where she learns that Hannah is very likely a killer and that Dexter's blood report was bullshit.
Dexter takes Hannah to the place she wanted to go with Wayne: Santa Holiday Adventure. As she watches fake snow fall down, Dexter injects her with his usual drug and prepares her for the kill. As she opens her eyes, he tells her his little secret, but in the end, instead of killing her, he cuts off the tape and has sex with her.
And yes, Batista wants to retire and run a restaurant.
So, Dexter seems to finally find a person that truly shares his interests. I think it's no coincidence that the story with Lumen came up: Dexter saw a soul mate in her, which turned out that she wasn't. Though Debra won't be happy if she finds out about it, she can't fully accept her brother for being what he is, she'll never put up with a girlfriend that poisons people.

DEXTER S07E05 "SWIM DEEP": "SO WE'RE LOOKING FOR A F**KING TERMINATOR"
Dexter is steadily awesome this season, and despite insufficient research done by the show creators on the topic of Ukrainian mafia, Koshka Brotherhood story line is actually pretty exciting, and Ray Stevenson, portraying the nasty mob boss Isaak Sirko is doing extremely good job. This character, while recklessly brutal, is somewhat charming, and if I compare him to other Dexter's antagonists, the only one that could really compete with Sirko in his brilliance is probably Trinity, but that one was clearly wrong in the head, so I give him the second place.
In "Swim Deep" Debra has to do some lying and evidence stealing to protect her brother, which she obviously finds morally unacceptable, and Dexter finally comes to learn that he is on Sirko's killing list, but I don't think he realizes yet how wicked his newly discovered enemy really is.
Recap:
- Dexter's cleaning his boat chitchatting with his father's ghost as usually, and finds some blood. Back in the lab he learns that this blood belongs to Lois.
- Debra finds out about the blood slide LaGuerta found in the church.Apparently, Maria ordered a test from another lab because she did not want her colleagues to think she was crazy for not believing that Doakes was a serial killer and because according to the Bay Harbor Butcher profile, he must be working for Miami Metro. She gives the case details to Debra, for her eyes only, but of course Debra shows it to Mr. Butcher himself.
- Dex comes back to his place, but before he opens the door, he notices that the curtain is not the way he left it, which means that someone was or still is inside. And we know who that is, right?
- So Dexter leaves a message on his autoreply, making Sirko believe he's gonna be in some cafe. Sirko goes there and receives a phone call from Dex. During the conversation, Isaak reveals that he wants to kill Dexter and his colleagues from police, including Deb, to avenge Viktor's death.
- To protect his sister, Dexter has to tell her about Isaak and Baskov. She gets upset as she learns that Dexter hid the fact that he found Viktor's fingerprint in Kaja's car.
- Hannah McKay helps Miami Metro find the bodies of one couple allegedly killed by her ex, Wayne Randall. As Dexter inspects the bodies, he realizes that Hannah was not only the associate of Wayne, she committed murders herself as well. However, DAs gave her immunity on all crimes committed with Randall, so she doesn't blink as he tells he what he' learnt.
- Debra and Maria visit the family of one of the Dexter's victims, a wedding photographer. On one of the photos Debra sees Dexter and hides it from Maria.
- Sirko follows Dexter to the den of a Colombian drug cartel, the group that is not fond of Koshka Brotherhood. Dexter believes Isaak gets killed there, 'cause he's outnumbered, but Sirko is extremely skilled, so he takes everyone down. During this slaughter, Sirko spills his own blood, which allows police to identify who he is, and so he gets arrested.
- Sirko and his company give some cash to Quinn, not really sure at this point, what for.
- Dexter visits Isaak in jail and listens to his story about his grandfather's revenge, which does not feel plausible in any way, but we get the main idea: this isn't over.
- Debra tells Dexter she doesn't want to know any more of his dark passenger stuff, she doesn't want to be a part of this anymore. So, metaphorically speaking, she wants to stay near the shore, while Dex swims deep.
Score: 10/10

Tadaa! |

DEXTER S07E04 ("RUN"): HOW DO YOU FEEL? GLAD!
So, Debra started seeing blood. In her dreams!
Recap:
Deb learns why Trinity killed Rita and who took care of Trinity himself. She suggests that Dexter sends Harrison to his grandparents, so that Dexter's secret life wouldn't harm him.
Speltzer got arrested, it took four police officers to detain him. Batista and Debra play a combination of good cop/creepy psychoanalytical cop to get his confession, and they succeeded. Unfortunately, one of the officers fucked up with Miranda rights upon the arrest, so Speltzer walked.
Dexter makes an unsuccessful attempt to kill Speltzer. He gets knocked out and Speltzer brings him to a grand labyrinth. As Dex regains his conscience, he sees a note saying "RUN", a command he does not want to follow at first, but as he sees "a bull with an ax" approaching, he does. By the way, the scene where Speltzer touches the wall with his an ax:.
instantly reminded me of Breaking Bad scene with the twin killers:
Of course, Dexter manages to escape by breaking the pattern. But the Minotaur wannabe saw his face, so Dexter sends his son to Rita's parents for two weeks.
Hannah McKay appears at Miami Metro to help find other bodies she and her ex boyfriend hid.
Isaak Sirko sees Dexter's photos and says he looks familiar. Police still comes to the strip club, so to stop the money loss, Sirko decides to provide them with the fake murderer. He and his crew make one Russian bartender write a suicide note, mentioning Kaja and blow his brains off. Batista finally reveals his detective skills by not really trusting that the guy is the murderer. Dex arrives at the crime scene as well and Isaak sees him out of his car.
Speltzer attended the funeral of the waitress he murdered, which made Debra snap. I could totally relate to her that moment, except for I wouldn't start a conversation with "haven't you done enough already?" and would just proceed with "f***ing c**ksucker, motherf***ker" and so on.
Sirko gets to Baskov's apartment and cries over the photograph where both of them are together. Baskov probably is his son or something.
Dexter arrives at the cemetery where the bull maniac works. He leaves a note saying "STAY" on a pile of mud and knocks Speltzer out with a shovel. Then he has his usual talk with his victim and puts a piece of a broken shovel haft to Speltzer's chest and then burns the body together with all of his blood slide trophies in a crematorium oven.
Debra comes to the cemetery as well and as Dexter says that the smoke coming out of the chimney is Speltzer, she shockingly says she feels glad.
